Hi there!
I’m Anna Elder, and I created the Twin Cities Autism Parent Support Network to bring together families like ours in a supportive and understanding community. As the mother of a wonderful 4-year-old with autism, accompanying language disorder, and developmental coordination disorder, I know firsthand the unique challenges and joys our children bring into our lives.
Why I Created This Group
When my son was diagnosed, I found myself isolating. It was hard to have playdates with more neurotypical kids, as it only made my son’s challenges stand out more. I longed for a place where he could play with similar peers and where I could connect with other parents who truly understood our journey. That’s why I created this group, focusing primarily on providing playdates and support rather than just general advice, though we do share tips and experiences too ;)
What We Offer
Monthly Parent Support Meetings: A space for parents to share experiences, offer support, and learn from one another.
Monthly Playdates: Organized playdates where our kids can interact and have fun in a sensory-friendly environment.
Member-Initiated Playdates: Our members often organize additional playdates, fostering strong bonds within our community.
Monthly Newsletter: I publish a newsletter each month, featuring upcoming sensory-friendly events in the Twin Cities and other information that might interest our members.
Join Us
Our Facebook group is a place of warmth and positivity, where every parent can find support and friendship. While I am not an expert, I find the greatest joy in being of service to others and am always happy to connect with any other parent on this journey.
Below, you’ll find links to our Facebook page, the newsletter signup, and my contact information. I look forward to meeting you and your family!
Warmly,
Anna Elder
